In this video, Marty is brazing a trumpet valve casing. This process attaches the valve casing ports to the valve casing. These ports will later have first, second and third valve slides soft-soldered into place.

A brazed joint is a lot stronger than one that is soft-soldered. It also has a much higher melting point. This high melting point allows future soldering to be done (near brazed joints) without the fear of melting the brazed junctions.
